Something that I know how to do extremely well is communicating. Whether I am communicating with new friends or old friend, I have the ability to express myself and make the other people feel very comfortable while talking to me. I know that I am good at communicating because people have told me on many occasions that I am a people person and know how to express myself very well. I remember that in 2nd grade, my 2nd grade teacher told the class how important it is to talk to people (not necessarily strangers though) about how you feel, if you feel sad, mad, happy, or upset. She said that you should never hold back your feelings because if you do then they will be feelings that you keep with you and they get to be bigger problems if they are not expressed. From that day forward I remembered to always tell someone how I felt. I have always been the type of person to talk to people very easily, whether they are new people in my life or people that have been in my life for years. I was always that kid in school who sat with the other kid who was sitting alone. I always put myself in their shoes and knew that if I were them I would never want to sit alone and would want someone to talk to. My expertise of communicating was developed by never hiding any feeling from someone. When I was in elementary school I did have a problem with telling people too much about how I felt, I was not yet an expert on filtering some of my feelings. Like that day I told my 3rd grade teacher I totally did not like her, that was a feeling I could have definitely kept to myself,
This is a skill that I can use in my future career as being a teacher that will be greatly appreciated by my students, coworkers and parents. I will communicate well with my students about what I am teaching, how it will help them in the future, and assist them with any questions that they may have. I will communicate well with my coworkers by asking them questions about lessons or how I can be a better educator. Communicating with my future students parents is something that I know will be very important. If one of my students is not doing so well and is struggling in a certain area, I will be sure to notify the parents as quickly as possible so they can help improve their children while I do the same. If a student of mine seems to be having tough time at home, or feels as though a situation is bothering them, I will communicate with their parents and try to come up with a solution to help their child get through the problem. All in all, communicating is a very important expertise to have and carry with me throughout my entire life. I am very proud of how strongly I communicate with others and will carry this skill with me.
